Crackerjack was a techno project of Sydney musician Scott Millard (who had previously been in a multitude of rock bands) with Paul Mac (Itch-E & Scratch-E, etc.) co-writing and producing.
“I paid Paul to produce my tracks and his contribution kind of snowballed. He is just epic so it was all welcomed.” [Scott Millard]
The “Mega City” vinyl 12″ EP (TRAP 1) was released on Millard’s own label Mouse Records in 1994.
“While I was at Warner, I also started a small label called Mouse Records, mainly to release Crackerjack and Nasenbluten, who specialized in hardcore 8-bit techno.” [Scott Millard]
“I had met Mark Newlands from Nasenbluten in a record store in Newcastle. They sold some cassettes and so I offered to release it on a record at the same time I did Crackerjack. I figured it would be easier to sell two (records) than just one. Mouse wasn’t the best name, I admit, but I was creatively bankrupt in that department. The label released two records, which were pushed through Mushroom Distribution Services (MDS).” [Scott Millard]
Three tracks from the 12″ – “Substation”, “Drugs” and “Mega City” – were included on the 1995 Volition album “Itch-E & Scratch-E & Friends” (VOLTCD96).
“Mega City” was later included on the 1996 Volition compilation CD “In The Mix” (VOLTCD151).
